This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Hawaii is a beautiful state but may be considered to have a high cost of living. It is highly recommended that research be done about the cost of living in Hawaii prior to applying.
Duties
You will oversee and participate in the loading, unloading lashing, securing and sealing of cargo to include handling and transporting of hazardous materials.
You will complete trip ticket and preventive maintenance records as well as accident reports in accordance with established rule in regulations.
You will perform a full range of warehousing operations involving one or a combination of functions such as receiving, storing, issuing or shipping.
You will conduct warehouse inventories and assists in determining the reasons for averages shortages or misplaced materials.
You will operate electric, gasoline, propane, or diesel forklifts capable of lifting 2,000 to 6,000 pounds as high as 14 feet.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Responds to emergency calls after regular working hours.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and keep current a valid state driver's license and any installation and/or DoD requirement for the type vehicle being operated.
- Assures that environmental, safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
- This position is designated as Drug Testing Required. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing in accordance with DA guidelines
- Employee shall be required to pass and maintain forklift-certification and driving test.
- Employee must be able to obtain a Class 4 CDL driver's license.
- Upon short notice, may be required to report to various DPW sites located within a 24 mile radius.
- This position requires a pre-employment physical and annual.
- This position requires temporary duty travel (TDY) of 10%

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Motor Vehicle Operator (Materials Handler/FLO) ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to do the work of a Motor Vehicle Operator (Materials Handler/FLO) without more than normal supervision operating a motor vehicle to deliver cargo, operate a forklift to move and ,load inventory, perform warehouse duties to include receiving, picking, packing, shipping, etc. of inventory; utilize computer programs to schedule appointments, record, track and monitor goods; complete delivery paperwork ensuring documentation is accurate and complete. - - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Phsyical Efforts - Employee stands, stoops, bends, and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions on hard surfaces. May be required to work at a rapid pace for prolonged periods. Frequently lifts and carries material that weighs up to 70 pounds, and at time, may handle material weighing over 70 pounds. Receives assistance in lifting heavy or difficult items. Moderate physical effort is expended in operating forklifts and pallet jacks.
Working Conditions - Employee works in all kinds of weather and inside in areas that may be dusty, drafty, and noisy. The employee is exposed to the possibility of bruises, muscle strains, cuts, scrapes or injury from shifting loads, toppling stacks, and falling objects or other material handling equipment. Protective devices such as but not limited to ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat and safety shoes is required. Steel toe shoes, hard hats and safety glasses, are required at all times. Long trousers or coveralls and shirt or tee shirt with sleeves are worn.
