This position is located in the Environmental Management Service (EMS) of the Samuel S Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, New York. The purpose of the Housekeeping Aid Supervisor is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing tasks (e.g., environment of care, textile distribution and training) associated with the EMS goals and objectives.

Duties

Duties include, but not limited to: Oversees, guides, manages and integrates EMS operations across the organization. Makes recommendations as a subject matter expert and acts as the final authority for areas of responsibility. Establishes, monitors and manages the performance and measurement of EMS functions. Coordinates and collaborates with a variety of stakeholders; including clinicians, professional/administrative peers, suppliers, intermediaries, third-party service providers, and customers. Effective plan organizational goals and objectives. Reviews, analyzes and interprets incoming requests, recommend appropriate action or suggests appropriate alternatives based on knowledge of internal operations, agency personnel policies, budgetary constraints and work priorities. Maintains tracking system for a variety of requirements for EMS service regarding EOC, Infection Prevention, Project Management committees. Interpreting administrative policies, developing implementing local policies, defining administrative requirements, and/or providing advice to top management on related issues. Reviews and provides feedback on SOPs/Memos of the Medical Center and serves as the subject matter expert for this process, this includes review and revision of all SOPs/Memos for formatting and up to date information, tracking due dates, and working with service chiefs to assist in revision and management of all related documents. Applies new policies, provides advice on requirements, maintains administrative systems, and prepares administrative documents such as executive decision memos, issue briefs and white papers. Managing assigned projects and personnel in accordance with policy and budget requirements. Advising other senior management and department leaders on highly complex and critical hospital missions. Maintains positive interactions and cooperation with contractors, local community members, administrative and clinical hospital staff. Conduct audits, compliance reviews and program effectiveness/efficiency reviews. Work Schedule: Wednesday - Sunday, 3:00pm-11:30pmPosition Description Title/PD#: Housekeeping Aid Supervisor/PD05960APhysical Requirements: The position demands continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing. The work requires the occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., wall washers, industrial type buffers) weighing over 50 pounds. The duties necessitate considerable dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordination, and concentration as well as visual acuity to see dirt, dust and debris.
