This position is located in the Environmental Compliance Fish & Wildlife (ECF) organization of Environmental Planning and Analysis (EC), Environment, Fish and Wildlife (E), Bonneville Power Administration (BPA).
The purpose of this position is to serve as the Supervisor for the Environmental Compliance Fish and Wildlife organization with responsibility for providing direction and leadership in the planning, analysis and implementation of NEPA for all Fish and Wildlife projects.
Duties
As a Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist, you will:
Serve as the Supervisor of ECF and as a member of the Environment, Fish and Wildlife (E) management team.
Provide direction and leadership in the planning, development, and administration of environmental compliance for BPA's fish and wildlife undertakings.
Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates; sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
Develop performance standards and evaluate work performance of subordinates.
Interview candidates for positions in the organization and recommends appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions.
Ensure regulatory NEPA compliance for BPA F&W projects, development of environmental policies to be enacted by the Fish and Wildlife, and establishment of strategic objectives and management of emerging environmental issues.
Establish and help implement training programs for staff and tribes and contract partners in the field in carrying out NEPA compliance requirements.
Participate actively in conferences, meetings, hearings, or presentations involving environmental analysis and compliance of BPA's Fish and Wildlife undertakings.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A qualified candidate's resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) in the Federal service.
Specialized Experience is defined as: Experience 1) leading a project or team in preparing environmental analyses and related decision documents (e.g., Environmental Assessments/Findings of No Significant Impact and Environmental Impact Statements/Records of Decision) for fish and wildlife mitigation programs or projects, ensuring compliance with various laws, regulations, Executive Orders, and guidelines related to the protection of natural, environmental, cultural, and social resources; AND 2) making policy recommendations related to the protection of natural, environmental, cultural, and social resources.
