This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Chief Readiness Officer, Facilities and Operational Support, Resources Management Section.
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the technical authority for the utilization, disposal, public domain land use, and out grant functions for real estate holdings for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Duties
As a Realty Specialist, GS-1170-13, your typical work assignments may include:
-Applying specialized knowledge of real estate market segments and practices to each assignment in a professional and effective manner, adapting the project as necessary during execution and implementation.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience, comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (can be obtained in the public or private sector) conducting ALL of the following:
1) Researching and/or applying new approaches to real estate to decrease real estate footprint, increase cost avoidance, and improve the disposal program; 2) Analyzing the program's real estate portfolio to determine the value and usefulness of real estate assets; 3) Managing the utilization survey to ensure properties receive the proper classification and utilization; and 4) Developing process and policy improvements in response to shifting business conditions, regulations, and priorities.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Time-in-grade
Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
