You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SECURITY SPECIALIST in the SECURITY DEPARTMENT of NSA MID SOUTH TN SEC DET.
Duties
You will assess adequacy of security capabilities (e.g. Physical Security posture) to adjudicate discrepancies and prevent security violations.
You will analyze and evaluate security programs to assess their effectiveness.
You will administer and manage Personnel, Information, or Physical Security programs to support operations.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Highly skilled in the use of department issued firearms, including the 9mm pistol and 12 gauge shotgun in order to periodically qualify and apply in the event deadly force situations; must be authorized by the Commanding Officer to carry firearms.
- The assignment and carrying of weapons, operating emergency vehicles, and confronting unruly or dangerous personnel with unknown intentions makes this supervisory position more difficult.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to have and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying principles, practices and techniques involved in the application of state of the art physical security measures and law enforcement procedures; 2) Protecting against hazards in the daily operation of the Security Department and in the prevention of and protection against terrorist and other hostile or criminal acts; 3) Operating a department in planning and administering an organization, personnel, training, budget contracts, Equal Employment Opportunity, safety, material controls and Total Quality Leadership program; 4) Supervising and administering the employment of individuals, the assignment of military personnel; and 5) Planning operating and administering training on terrorist activities, law enforcement and investigative programs.
