The employee will serve as the Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist at the VA Central Western Massachusetts Healthcare System in Leeds, MA. The employee is responsible for the development and integration of a supply chain that ensures the logistical requirements of the VA Health Care System and supported catchment areas are met.
Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
- Oversees, guides, manages and integrates supply chain operations across the organization.
- Plans and coordinates fiscal, acquisition, clinical and administrative operations.
- Establishes, monitors and manages the performance and measurement of logistics functions for all aspects of the supply chain.
- Conducts logistics audits, compliance reviews and program effectiveness/efficiency reviews.
- Manages all activities involved in the supply chain management to include sourcing, procurement and logistics management activities.
- Responsible for linking major business functions and processes within the organization into a
cohesive and high performing business model.
- Forecast planning and budget execution for supplies, subsistence, durable medical equipment, medical gases, expendable/non-expendable and capital equipment, inventory management, warehouse operations, transportation and distribution.
- Leads and/or participates in regular meetings, ensuring logistics needs and requirements are being met.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service. This experience must have equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist. Specialized experience includes: serving as a senior supply chain management leader/supervisor, responsible for ensuring the logistical requirements of an organization are met; planning/coordinating and evaluating various operations to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of a logistics program. Areas of knowledge and skill should include acquisition management, purchasing, transportation, distribution, inventory management and control, expendable and non-expendable equipment, and warehouse operations; experience with budget formulation and forecasting of expenditures. At this level, candidates should possess experience in managing a group with a variety of occupations and subordinate supervisors.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is primarily sedentary; however, the position is required to participate on environment of care rounds, internal and external quality reviews and external auditor site visits. These reviews include a review of work areas including warehouse, supply areas that require personal protective equipment such as operating room and lab and equipment disposition areas that involve removal of hazardous waste. This may require long periods of standing, walking and/or maneuvering around moving or otherwise hazardous equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and cart washers. Work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. May require occasional travel.
