As a Data Scientist, you will derive insights from quantitative and qualitative analysis of data, employ data management and analysis best practices, communicate information in enterprise-level, standardized, and ad hoc reports and dashboards, and utilize predictive analytics to make recommendations that support policy improvements, reporting, and programs related to federal banking system supervision.

Duties
As a Data Scientist, you will:
Initiate and carry out data analysis assignments using data science approaches, data source identification, data preparation, translation, validation, and visualization for analysis to identify risks.
Perform data preparation, validation, quality assurance, translation, and visualization to interpret large and unstructured data sets.
Utilize statistical software to programmatically prepare data for analysis and data validation.
Research complex databases to explore/group data, test hypotheses, predict outcomes, and inform decisions in support of analytical initiatives and requirements.
Write computer programs and codes, recommend improvements to dashboards, spreadsheets, reports, screens, and spatial analysis such as maps and regressions.
Advise and consult on the potential benefits/uses of automation to improve the efficiency of program operations; analyze a variety of data sources to provide data-driven insights to the organization to streamline processes.

You must meet the following requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement:
Basic requirement:
Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. OR
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
In addition to meeting Basic Requirement above, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-IV band level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:
Using mathematical or statistical software applications (e.g. STATA, SAS, Python, MatLab, Gauss, R) to conduct analysis; OR
Developing, interpreting and analyzing data extracts and reports from systems and databases
The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
