Duties

As a building and grounds maintenance laborer, your duties and responsibilities will include: Mowing and edging lawns and other grounds areas. Trimming trees, shrubs and hedges. Raking leaves, removing weeds and other debris from grounds areas. Applying herbicides to lawns and other grounds areas, Assisting with carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work. Performing work involved in the cleaning and care of buildings and facilities. Operating light duty motor vehicles; e.g., pickup trucks/sedans, flatbed trucks, etc. (which typically have an approximate gross weight up to 10,000lbs) to transport bulk materials, equipment, and/or passengers to and from work sites. Digging trenches and ditches, filling holes, leveling ground and compacting soil. Placing pre-mixed concrete and performing minor concrete repair work. Taking proper care of tools and equipment used for work assignments. Completing and maintaining work records and reports. Lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds); pushing heavy furniture on dollies, loaded carts, etc. Following proper safety procedures due to the nature of the work, the type of tools and equipment used, and the weight of objects handled. Performing other related duties as assigned.
