You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE (PAO) DIVISION of COMMANDER NAVY REGION HAWAII.
Duties
You will prepare speeches and presentations for senior level officials.
You will provide photographs and other material as required to the media or staff members.
You will plan local and outreach engagement efforts to promote community relations.
You will participate in the planning, developing, and execution of strategic communication efforts for a command.
You will act as a command spokesperson to provide accurate and credible responses to media and public inquiries.
You will coordinate media participation in special events and ceremonies as appropriate.
You will create written policies in support of a Command Public Affairs program.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Gathering data to write news releases, feature stories, background statements, blogs, fact sheets, etc. to disseminate information; 2) Analyzing information to determine the audience and the most effective media to use (i.e., print, web/social media, and/or broadcast media); 3) Developing effective relationships with public affairs personnel and media representatives by performing oral presentations, briefs, or arrange phone interviews with subject matter experts to enhance communication between the organization and its audiences; 4) Using approved information to respond to queries from the media and/or general public orally or in writing. Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
Have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
OR
Have successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled.
OR
Have a combination of experience and education that equates to one year of experience. Percentage of education plus percentage of experience must equal 100%.
