This position is located in the Maintenance and Repair Section, Facilities Management Service, VA Central California Health Care System.

Duties

This position established to perform and assist in performing plumbing work such as installing, repairing, and modifying water supply, sewage disposal, gas distribution, oil line, and similar utility systems and equipment. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for assisting journeyman-level tradesmen in completing assigned tasks as directed, with limited supervision. Duties will include but not be limited to repair/replacement of suspended ceiling components, replacing florescent/LED tubes and/or incandescent light bulbs, repairing condensate drip pans, repairing toilets and urinals. Additionally the position is responsible for providing carpentry services that involve assisting and constructing items using wood, wood substrates and composite building materials. Major duties: The employee helps higher-grade plumbers by performing the simpler and more routine tasks of the trade. Cuts pipe to marked sized; Obtains, carries, lifts, and positions equipment, parts, and tools needed for plumbing installation and repair. Learns basic trade practices and sub journey work in the plumbing trade under close guidance. Removing, cleaning, and reinstalling simple traps and faucets. Assists in assembling and installing parts and units by getting tools and supplies, carrying materials, and lifting and holding materials in place.
