This position is located in Lava Beds National Monument, in the Maintenance Division. This is a Career-Seasonal position and subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment but does not provide employment on a year-round basis. Selectee will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for a minimum of two weeks. The typical season for this position is February thru December but can vary due to projects or weather conditions.

Duties

Utilize a variety of materials, tools, and equipment associated with the repair and maintenance of structures and grounds. Perform minor plumbing repairs of limited difficulty such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures. Perform minor carpentry repairs of limited difficulty to buildings and quarters. Construct, install, repair and replace such items as doors, shelves, supply racks, hardware, frame structures, windows, trim and cabinets. Perform routine maintenance at different sites and visitor facilities, to include cleaning restrooms, and making minor repairs as needed. Receive, unload and process incoming shipments according established procedures, and report discrepancies and damage to others responsible for such items. May perform other duties such as painting equipment, masonry work, roofing, welding or assisting higher grade worker with maintenance of utility systems in the facility. Operate a light truck to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites.
