About the Position: You will serve as an Operations Specialist and functions as the primary coordination point for the Department of Defense (DoD) Biometrics Enterprise 24/7/365, supporting a branch consisting of 11 contract personnel. As a Watch Desk Shift Lead, provides immediate support for worldwide biometric collection operations for the DoD, other United States (U.S) governmental organizations and international partners.
Duties
Upload biometric files and images for manual submission and manually transfer biometric files, biometric images, and response files from one domain to another.
Identify and correct files that error in the repository(s). Attain proper approval and remove biometric records from the repository(s) and keep a record of the removal
Oversee the utilization of government provided automated tools to capture trends, trouble call resolution status and track metrics to operate and maintain the system and generate standard report and ad hoc reports for customers or for submissions.
Provide weekly and monthly reports that identify and tracks trouble calls; use existing automated help desk tools and assess new automated tools that can provide improvements to both users and the DoD authoritative biometric repository(s) operations.
Coordinate to process and disseminate Biometrically Enabled Watch Lists (BEWL) to biometric customers.
Provide all BEWLs in the daily, weekly, and monthly basis in the correct template for each customer. Monitor the daily DoD BEWL update in the biometric enterprise.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

- Position requires travel to other duty locations approximately 10% of the time on commercial and/or military aircraft.
- Position requires to perform 24/7/365 shift work to include weekends and holidays.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing support in biometric collection operations; coordinating and monitoring a variety of plans to maximize effectiveness of operations; and assisting in corrective action processes for any system deterioration until the respective issue is resolved. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: criminal justice, forensics, biometrics, criminology, cyber-security, etc.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
