About the Position: Serves as a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist with US Army Central Command (USARCENT) with a duty location of Shaw AFB, SC.
Duties
Plans, prepares, and implements command information and media/community relations programs supporting main headquarters activities.
Advises the command staff on communication planning, policy formulation, and the most effective methods to educate, inform, and promote awareness, understanding, and support for USARCENT missions, programs, and activities.
Serves as a first-line supervisor, responsible for supervising a staff of Civilian personnel by providing direction, guidance, and assignments.
Researches, writes, and edits command information news releases and factsheets for distribution command-wide and through channels to higher headquarters.
Requirements

- Incumbent must successfully complete the Defense Information School (DINFOS), Public Affairs Qualification Course (PAQC) within one year of appointment to the position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) developing communication strategies and plans to maintain public support; 2) editing and writing materials for specific audiences; 3) preparing command briefings and slides tailored to a variety of internal and external audiences; and 4) directing the development and execution of projects through the production of communication tools (i.e. print, visual, web-based, multimedia and video materials).
This definition of specialized experience is typical of the work performed at the next lower level (GS-12).
