This full-time position at the Lexington VA Medical Center serves in Mental Health Service as administrative support for Mental Health Service Administration, the coordinator for the facility's Employee Wellness Program (EWP), and the administrative support/coordinator to all training programs within the MHS as well as for the Suicide Prevention Program and support to the MHS clinic programs.

Duties

The incumbent is responsible for independently developing, planning, and directing the administrative functions of the training programs. Assists the Training Director of Psychology with the in-processing of all trainees from affiliated institutions. Trainees include all Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA)- funded medical and dental residents, associated health trainees, and WOC trainees/ students. Functions include, but are not limited to correspondence, sending and receiving trainee packets, guiding packets for appropriate signatures through the Education Department, Director's Office, ISO, IRMS, PIV departments and HRMS.Main duties consist of the following:

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/04/2023. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENT: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6 must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. In addition to meeting the time-in-grade requirement, applicants must meet the following specialize experience: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Processing correspondence, memorandums, suspenses, and other forms of written communication to ensure appropriate and timely routing and grammatical correctness; maintaining appointments and calendars, to include resolution of calendar conflicts, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings as requested; scheduling travel arrangements; coordinating purchase of office supplies and equipment to meet the organization's needs.You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Administration and Management Communication Manages and Organizes Information Manages Resources Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The majority of work is performed in an office setting with adequate light, heat, and ventilation. Typical office setting, subject to noise caused by multiple visits by staff, equipment and telephone interruptions when performing various functions on a daily basis. Work is mostly sedentary; however does require standing, ambulation, bending, lifting of objects less than 25 pounds, and pushing of carts.
