About the Position: This position is located within the Department of Diagnostic Radiology at Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Liberty.

Duties
Perform a variety of complex computed tomography and magnetic resonance procedures.
Interview patient to obtain, verify, or update medical history. Explain procedure to patient or significant others, including a description of risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up.
Preparing and administering contrast agents, radiopharmaceuticals, and general medications as prescribed by the Radiologist.
Monitor patient for side effects or complications of the pharmaceutical.
Perform image guidance for needle or catheter placement.
Perform physical examination and analysis of data (e.g., signs and symptoms, laboratory values, and significant abnormalities) and report findings to the supervising Radiologist.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- This position requires the employee to obtain Hepatitis B immunizations and Tuberculin testing unless exempt by physician.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds is required.
- This position is covered by Public Law 97-35 requiring persons who administer radiological procedures meet credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75 (i.e., (a).
- Incumbent must maintain certification as a Radiologist Assistant (RA) as recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).
- This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.

Basic Requirement: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position, you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: assisting with diagnostic procedures such as, performing genitourinary, gastrointestinal, invasive vascular, or non-vascular procedures; performing computed tomography imaging; and magnetic resonance imaging. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11)
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
