Duties
The Park Ranger (General) is assigned to remote work site to provide visitor services and resource protection support. Operates a motorboat to conduct campground patrols or to access remote areas for foot patrols; provides emergency medical services; performs search and rescue operations; provides information regarding Federal, park, and state regulations; provides visitor information, resource education, and assistance; and maintains campground and associated facilities.
Physical Demands: The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, driving, bending, and the incumbent must have the ability to routinely carry backpacks of up to 50 pounds in steep terrain and in adverse weather conditions.
Working Conditions: The work is performed in a setting in which there is regular and recurring exposure to moderate discomforts and unpleasantness, e.g., high or !ow temperatures, confined spaces, or adverse weather conditions.

Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-11/24/2023-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
SCREEN OUT QUESTION: Must currently possess a NREMT-Emergency Medical Responder Certification (or higher level certification) by 01/19/2023 (you must submit a copy of your certification) to be considered or those enrolled in the training by closing date of this announcement. (You must indicate which school you will be/are attending and your expected completion date in your resume).
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Park Ranger (General). Specialized experience includes but is not limited to providing information or assistance to the public in an outdoor, recreation or wilderness setting; instructing groups of people or individuals on backcountry safety and practices, provides emergency first aid as a certified Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or higher level of certification, assist with search & rescue, routinely patrols campgrounds and other backcountry areas providing aid to visitors as needed, or noting resource damage which can be reported to law enforcement or park managers. You must include years, months and hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least four years of education above high school (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major field of study in any of the following: natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. Course work in fields other than those specified may be accepted if it clearly provides applicants with the background of knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance in the position to be filled. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
