This position is part of the R9-National Conservation Training Center. As a Student Trainee (Training Support) you will be responsible for communicating orally with a broad range of individuals, groups, organizations to coordinate training activities, gather information, and to provide information.
Duties
Only experience and education obtained by 11/16/2023 will be considered.
As a Student Trainee (Training Support) your duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Gathers and compiles data to create and schedule seminars in the Service's and/or Department's learning management system.
Prepares and assembles course location information, course pre-work, specialized course forms, surveys and activities. Utilizes computer software to format, edit and publish this information online and in the learning management system.
Assists with complex training programs, such as Service Academies, Workshops, Leadership and Supervisory courses and programs, field and lab courses, etc. This may require providing unique support with the registration process, applications and nominations, classroom preparation, arranging special equipment for field trips and making specialized logistical preparations. Participates in and coordinates pre-course planning sessions and pre-course webinars, updates websites, etc.
Manages online courses and webinars, including scheduling, moderating, tracking, monitoring, sending participant notifications and session information, taking attendance and storing classroom notes.
Develops brochures, announcement flyers, and other marketing materials for classes and programs to be posted to websites and learning management systems. Ensures materials developed are accessible and 508 compliant.

To be eligible for a Pathways Program internship program, you must meet the following requirements:
You must be a student accepted for enrollment or enrolled in a degree or certificate program on at least a half-time basis and in good standing who will be continuing education into the next semester or have received a notice of acceptance for enrollment. Enrollment must be with an accredited educational institution or state-approved home school. These may include high schools, colleges, universities, technical, trade, vocational, or business schools, and state approved home school secondary and post-secondary programs.

Pathways Student Intern: The Department of the Interior Internship Program (Pathways) is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school.
Special Provisions for Interns with Previous Related Education or Experience: Previous education and/or experience may be evaluated to determine the highest grade level for which the individual is qualified.
Current students in an accredited college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.

Minimum Qualification [GS-05]
Completed 4 academic years of post-high school study leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree (four years of full-time academic study is defined as 120 semester hours, 180 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university) in a discipline/academic program related to the position.
Minimum Qualification [GS-07]
Completed 1 full academic year of graduate level education. OR
A bachelor's degree AND meet one of the Superior Academic Achievement Provisions. 1. Maintained a grade-point average of "B" (a GPA of 3.0 or higher) for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study, -OR- 2. Maintained a grade-point average of "B+" (a GPA of 3.5 or higher) for all courses in your major field of study, or those courses in your major completed in the last two years of undergraduate study, -OR- 3. Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university, or major subdivision, -OR- 4. Be a member of a national honor (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor societies.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
PROOF OF EDUCATION: All applicants who are using education or a combination of education and experience to qualify must submit copies of official or unofficial transcripts which include grades, credit hours earned, major(s), grade point average or class ranking, institution name, and student name. If any required coursework is not easily recognizable on transcripts, or if you believe a portion of a particular course can be credited toward meeting an educational requirement, you must also provide a memorandum on letterhead from the institution's registrar, dean, or other appropriate official stating the percentage of the course that should be considered to meet the requirement and the equivalent number of units. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable; however, if you are selected for the position, you will be required to produce the original official transcripts.
PASS/FAIL COURSES: If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.
GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education.
