As a Lead Architect or Engineer, you will be responsible for directing Design and Construction projects while working with a team of architects, engineers, and project managers. Location of position: Public Buildings Service, Kansas City, MO The Design and Construction Division develops and delivers workplace environments and solutions to support customer needs through planning, design, and construction. We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.

Duties

Designated as the point of contact concerning design consulting and construction services in the specific geographic area of the region. Coordinates assignment of tasks involving overall project management process and monitors performance of the process improvement effort.  As a professional subject matter expert, you will have responsibility for the technical and business management of designated major building projects from the preliminary planning stage through the design, construction, equipment installation, and check-out stages. Participates with key agency personnel and those of a client agency who are responsible for defining the goals of a project, working with them to prepare a master plan for accomplishing such goals. Coordinates architectural and support cost estimates to achieve the goals of the master plan. Prepares schedules for complete project, implementing a system for review, control, and reporting on project status.

Specialized experience is experience in the design of construction or alteration projects involving large and complex buildings or major building systems; and the coordination of the activities of architects, engineers, tenants and construction contractors on such projects. Such experience must also include having independently managed projects (balance scope/quality, schedule and budget) requiring the services of multiple disciplines from project initiation phase through project closeout.  This position has a positive education requirement: Applicants must submit a copy of their college or university transcript(s) and certificates by the closing date of announcements to verify qualifications.
