This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted position for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (CH-47), Position Description Number PDD0484000, and is part of the SC AASF 2, South Carolina Army National Guard.

Duties

This position is located in an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF)or Army Aviation Flight Activity (AAFA) with responsibility for the performance of the full range of aircraft maintenance duties including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of assemblies, systems, and surfaces for one or more types of military aircraft, fixed and rotary wing. Perform duties and has responsibilities understood under the military designation of Crew Chief which involves full maintenance responsibility for a required minimum number of aircraft as determined by type of aircraft. Has responsibility for one or more subordinate employees who assist in the repair and maintenance of assigned aircraft. May be required to perform duties per the military definition of Flight Engineer.

Requirements

• NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is a Title 32 Technician Vacancy that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

Qualifications

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC): Area of Consideration: This position is open to Area 1 Only. Area 1: Current employees of the South Carolina Army National Guard (Tenure 1 and 2) Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Army National Guard Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Army National Guard *Temporary and Indefinite employees do not meet permanent tenure requirements and are not eligible for Area 1. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
