About the Position: This position is located in the Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Washington. Tacoma is a diverse city nestled between Seattle and the state capital of Olympia. Duties

Maintain an accurate status of all emergency response equipment and personnel. Provide Advanced Emergency Medical Dispatch Life Support care through pre-arrival instructions to callers. Responsible for the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls. Refer non-emergent callers to appropriate civilian and governmental agencies.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
• Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
• This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
• This position requires certification in Advanced Medical Priority Dispatch Systems.
• This position requires certification in DOD Hazardous Material Awareness.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes receiving 911 emergency calls such as fire, police, and medical services and respond using appropriate emergency dispatching or communication equipment to assign the information to the proper unit. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
