Duties

As an Administrator - Office of Native American Programs, you will: - Direct a staff of specialists to provide performance oversight, compliance assurance, technical assistance coordination, and program implementation for tribes, Tribally Designated Housing Entities (TDHE), and client groups under the area Office of Native American Program's (ONAP) jurisdiction. Resolve sensitive issues by interpreting and applying new and existing policy and procedural instructions issued by Headquarters for staff, tribes, and TDHEs. - Assess tribes and TDHEs concerns, broad trends, and technical assistance needs and develop and revise procedures to improve the effectiveness of the office and to adjust to changing conditions. Maintain contacts with tribal officials, tribal council members, TDHE directors, tenant groups, local, state, and other Federal agency officials to effectively administer the Department's programs and resolve sensitive and controversial issues. - Provide administrative and technical supervision of assigned staff including; evaluating subordinate supervisors; hearing and resolving group grievances; reviewing and approving disciplinary actions; managing travel, staff, and equipment resources; providing training for staff; and ensuring that the agency's Affirmative Action Plan is met.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the service. Specialized experience for this position includes: - Supervising staff responsible for monitoring and evaluating housing programs; AND - Collaborating with Native American and/or Alaska Native tribal leaders, federal, or state or local agencies, or the private sector regarding program objectives related to Native Americans and/or Alaska Natives; AND - Providing administrative and operational oversight. Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
