About the Position: This is a Materials Handler (Fork Lift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) position located within the Human Resources Command DCS G-1/G-4 Logistics Branch, Fort Knox, KY.

Duties

Warehouse: Accomplishes and/or directs assigned warehousing functions on a continuing basis with assistance, as required; from laborers, equipment operators, or other material handlers. Receiving Activity: Spots conveyances at proper docking locations; opens seals and doors; tallies stock in; palletizes; assembles in temporary warehousing area. Shipping Activity: From supply documents locates items; prepares information on document with that in stock; selects and assembles items for issue or shipment. Delivery Activity: Operates motor vehicle to deliver supplies to supported customers. Ensures that correct supplies and quantities are delivered to the correct customer by verifying activity against release documentation. Motor Vehicle Operator: Performs tasks in support of GSA fleet. Performs vehicle inspections to identify/verify deficiencies, i.e., mechanical, electrical, etc.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Must be able to lift and carry loads of printed material weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position requires the incumbent to pass a pre-placement medical and annual medical surveillance exam in accordance with Occupational Health requirements.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Work areas may be hot, cold, damp, drafty, or poorly lighted.
