The position of Quality Management Program Assistant is in the office of Quality Management. The Quality Management Program Assistant actively participates in the operations of Quality Management which reports directly to the Medical Center Director through the Chief of Quality.
Duties
The position of Quality Management Program Assistant is in the office of Quality Management. The Quality Management Program Assistant actively participates in the operations of Quality Management which reports directly to the Medical Center Director through the Chief of Quality. Major duties include but not limited to:
Support the highly sensitive functions associated with the Medical Center's Quality Management programs, Patient Safety, Patient Mortality, Accreditation Agencies, including The Joint Commission, Office of Inspector General and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, Peer Review activities, Risk Management activities and Utilization Management activities through data collection and analysis.
Collects data from the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS); possessing a high degree of analytical ability and clinical knowledge, including data collection from the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS).
Knowledge of sensitive quality management activities such as Mortality reviews, Performance Improvement, Joint Patient Safety Reporting, Peer Review processes and Risk/Legal procedures.
Provides administrative coverage when needed within Quality Management.
Independently performs a full scope of routine and non-routine assignments as the program and analytical Assistant for Quality Management program.
Provides administrative functions that are essential to the facility's strategic plan for Quality and Patient Safety.
Records, drafts, and edits meeting minutes for Accreditation Readiness, Performance Measures, Patient Safety, and Utilization Management committees, and will serve as a backup for Peer Review Committee minutes.
Identifies existing or potential vulnerabilities as noted in the Accreditation Readiness, Performance Measures, Patient Safety, and Utilization Management Committee Minutes and directly collaborates with the Chief of Quality Management to reconcile open action items.
Accurately captures and organizes data for multiple performance measure reports produced by Quality Management, in a manner that consistently reflects the high-level specialty and expertise specific of QM functions and its direct responsibilities to the Medical Center Director.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/24/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information in support of an organization's operation;
Advising and instructing administrative and clerical staff concerning the reporting requirements and other clerical and administrative procedures;
Reviewing correspondence, required report formats, proper grammar, spelling and punctuation, syntax, etc., in order to review documents for conformance with formats and procedural requirements, and to identify and correct grammatical errors, and to prepare all materials in final format;
Knowledge of medical/legal issues, peer review, occurrence screens, patient safety reports, quality management, lean process and medical records;
Experience with Federal and VA rules and regulations as it pertains to time and attendance, official government travel;
Interact effectively, skillfully, tactfully, and appropriately with various levels of management, visitors, patients, volunteers, etc.;
Utilizing a variety of software and programs to accomplish work such as email, spreadsheets, word processing, VISTA/Sharepoint, and database programs;
Knowledge of hospital operations, policies, and procedures, as well as VA regulations, policies and program guidelines.

Physical Requirements: The work is generally sedentary in nature; however the emotional and physical stress resulting from frequent contacts with distressed individuals, some of whom may be dangerous to self or others, makes the work more demanding then most sedentary positions.
