The Caregiver Support Program (CSP) is one of the Veterans Health Administration's (VHA) most rapidly growing service areas, as a result of infrastructure modernization, programming innovation, and expansion of population-served by the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) under MISSION Act. CSP expansion puts the VHA out front of the healthcare industry as a healthcare system pioneer-caring for the caregiver.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Ensures accurate, timely and consistent entry of information into appropriate database(s).
Assist the team to ensure the secure transmission and receipt of documents needed to make standard eligibility.
Works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model and performs receptionist duties, customer service and other duties assigned for the proper and timely treatment of patients and maintains appointment schedules for one or more outpatient clinics.
Identifying and developing ways to resolve problems with the administrative and clinical staff on access, customer service, patient flow, revenue, and data validation issues.
Monitors and reviews tracking information for caregivers and Veterans who utilize community and VA referrals and resources at each facility via database developed, the Caregiver Record Management Application (CARMA) IT system, and/or CPRS.
Independently manage position responsibilities with little supervision as well as set priorities and deadlines adjusting the flow and sequencing of the work to meet team and patient needs.
Participates in the teamlet huddles and weekly team meetings where patient care planning and management occur
Possesses knowledge of medical terminology and usages, (e.g., medicine, surgical, geriatrics, hospital terms, medical abstracts, nursing, social work, pharmacology, aging, and home health), spelling, grammar, abbreviations, composition, and ability to determine and follow required formats for VA memos and reports
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00a.m. - 4:30p.m.
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/20/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Performing timekeeping duties; providing administrative, clerical and programmatic support; Compiling and maintaining data, performs analysis and prepares reports; Utilizing computer software systems for data management, word processing and communications; Receiving, screening, prioritizing all incoming correspondence and ensures deadlines and suspense dates are met; Developing and initiating written correspondence; Maintaining office files and supplies; Collecting compiling and/or tracking data and statistical information in support of the services programs and operating procedures; Responding to non-technical requests for information such as status of reports, suspense dates for routine matters requiring compliance; Handle other requests for information as applicable; and perform other related duties as assigned.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, involving work at a computer workstation, and often requires some standing, bending, lifting and carrying light to medium items. The work often requires above average ability and dexterity.
