About the position: This position will be assigned to Outdoor Recreation Shaw AFB, SC.
Duties
Assists in planning, developing, and executing outdoor recreation activities such as classes, trips and events. Assists with developing recurring and nonrecurring outdoor activities, special events and joint community undertakings, both those in basic categories (e.g., camping, canoeing, fishing, hiking, etc.) and enhanced, higher risk "adventure" categories designed to meet more specialized or technical interests and needs (e.g., kayaking, river rafting, outdoor survival, snowmobiling, etc.) Assists with planning and coordinating the details of activities to ensure maximum use of resources. Assists with marketing and publicity plan inputs for outdoor recreations activities, ensuring maximum effectiveness in attracting and motivating participants. Arranges for equipment, supplies and services need to accomplish scheduled activities. Accounts for funds and resources used in the program element. Makes recommendations for improvement in funding and other support services. Tests equipment for safe operation; demonstrates equipment and techniques of various outdoor activities such as camping, swimming, boating etc. Inspects outdoor recreation facilities and equipment for security and general conditions, reports discrepancies to supervisor; schedules campsites, cabins, boats and other outdoor recreation equipment and areas for use, with responsibility for seeing that they are vacated or returned in good order. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty that includes weekends, holidays, and evenings. Requires occasional travel for programs and activities. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Experience demonstrating a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs and practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities and equipment. Be able to obtain, and maintain, certification in CPR and First Aid. Possess a valid driver's license. Be able to satisfactorily complete a preemployment physical. Outside work in all types of weather conditions required.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
