You will serve as a Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) Inspector in the Lifting and Handling Department, WHE Inspection, Test, Crane Rail Branch - 721 of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will inspect and troubleshoot electrical power distribution and electronic digital information components during removal, repair, alteration, overhaul, installation and alignment. You will be required to participate on project teams (without direct supervision) and assume increased responsibilities relating to developing project work packages, planning and scheduling of work, and leading inspection related tasks. You will provide assistance during Regional Navy Crane Center (NCC) audits and issue specific support requests/investigative reports, etc., per governing requirements. You will perform Load Test Director functions for Category 3 WHE or No-Load for Category 2 WHE by directing the inspection and operational actions of a team for final testing and certification. You will perform inspection and test functions on mechanical, structural, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic and electrical/mechanical and components and systems. You will perform periodic maintenance inspections, load tests, and emergent deficiency inspections of Weight Handling Equipment (WHE). You will ensure that needed plans, blueprints, material, tools and test equipment are available. You will review and correctly interpret engineering drawings and specifications, manufacturer's literature and maintenance procedures.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • The incumbent may be assigned nuclear work and must be able to maintain required qualifications, including qualification to wear dosimetry and work in high radiation areas.
  • The incumbent may be required to obtain and maintain an incidental crane operator license and / or aerial work platform license as deemed necessary by management to meet job related requirements and manning resource needs.
  • Must be able to pass a qualification examination.
