The primary purpose of this position is to perform technical duties in support of natural resources management. The goal of the natural resources program is to ensure continued access to land and space required to accomplish the Air Force Mission by maintaining these resources in a healthy condition.
Duties
Responsible for providing technical support in implementing the grating and cropland component plan.
Operates and maintains the Natural Resources Facility located in the 9 CES compound.
Responsible for technical support in implementing the fish and wildlife component plan.
Provide guidance and train field personnel and volunteers when implementing component plans of the INRMP.
Develops, tracks progress, and expedites permit applications, AF Form 332, 103, 813 to ensure projects are not adversely affected by lack of permits and environmental documentation.
Responsible for technical support of implementing other component plans of the INRMP to include grounds maintenance, pest management, wetland and endangered species protection, BASH, outdoor recreation, and environmental education.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Technical and Medical Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of technical level methods and operational practices of range and wildlife management and operations on federal lands. Knowledge to plan operation and maintenance activities in support of natural resources management activities. Knowledge to operate and maintain standard farm equipment and tools. Knowledge to work with farm construction materials to construct farm fencing, water troughs, ponds, wildlife nest boxes, water level control devices, and signs. Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations and Air Force Regulations necessary to plan and implement natural resource projects on federal lands.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field directly related to the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge and understanding of technical level methods and operational practices of range and wildlife management and operations on federal lands. This includes cattle and horse grazing management, vegetation management. hunting, fishing. wildlife viewing, wildlife habitat enhancement, wildlife surveys, and wildlife control.
Skill to plan operation and maintenance activities in support of natural resources management activities. Ability to operate and maintain standard farm equipment and tools. Skill to work with farm construction materials to construct farm fencing, water troughs, ponds, wildlife nest boxes, water level control devices, and signs.
Knowledge and ability to learn and comply with relevant federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations and Air Force Regulations necessary to plan and implement natural resources projects on federal lands.
Knowledge of natural resources project construction techniques to enable inspection of contractor performance. Skill in maintaining an operational spending budget, purchasing using the federal procurement system, and organizing shop materials and equipment needed to implement natural resources projects.
Ability to perform the natural resources planning process for implementing construction projects. Ability to provide guidance and train field personnel and volunteers in conservation project work. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
