About the Position: ERDC-EL-EP-E is seeking a Physical Scientist, DB-1301-02 to join our team and perform complex tasks of broad scope, exhibiting the ability to interpret, select, adapt, and apply many guidelines, precedents, and engineering principles and practice.
Candidate will manage laboratories resources, identify needs, make purchases and identify logistical solutions for laboratory operations.
This position will be filled at the DB-2 with promotion potential to the DB-3.
Duties
Lab Manager of Environmental Engineering Labs, working with PIs to coordinate activities and ensure that all materials, equipment, and staff are prepared for any testing needs.
Collaborate with researchers on projects pertaining to the US Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works and military missions within and outside of the ERDC.
Manage laboratory inventories, make purchases to keep the laboratory stocked and effective.
Responsible for preparing documents either as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) and/or Government Purchase Card (GPC) holder or to assist with the preparation of acquisition documents.
Coordinate the disposal of waste with lab points of contact.
Work with PIs to manage the facilities, prepare and submit work orders.
Conduct background research on a wide variety of topic areas and achieve working knowledge sufficient to be innovative and generate problem solutions.
Act as the safety point of contact for the laboratories, ensuring researchers are prepared for and follow SOPs.

Basic Requirement for Physical Scientist:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
