You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FACILITIES OPERATIONS SPECIALIST in the FACILITIES SUPPORT GROUP, NAVAL SUBMARINE SUPPORT FACILITY NEW LONDON of NAVAL SUBMARINE SUPPORT FACILITY.

Duties

You will be responsible for the general supervision of the Facility Support Group (FSG). You will be responsible for overseeing all personnel assigned to the department in all facets of support functions including procurement of supplies, training in proper procedural compliance, and implementing proper safety precautions. You will be responsible for all new installation of Intruder Detection Systems (IDS), and continued maintenance of IDS at all secret/SIPERNET locations under your guidance. You will be responsible maintaining an efficient Material Handling Equipment MHE licensing program for all military and government employees in the (MHE) licensing program. You will be responsible for preparing and maintaining the Basic Facilities Requirements (BFR) and related data required for industrial buildings, storage structures, and specialized laboratories, weapons shops and related facilities.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience having a broad background in electrical, mechanical and industrial engineering with a primary emphasis in civil/structural engineering; Experience creating or providing cost estimates for construction and repair projects; Experience with Shore Facilities Planning, all types of specific project planning, and following the requirements for the manning of shore facilities; Experience investigating and analyzing a wide variety of technical issues in proposed construction and repair projects while implementing command NAVOSH and environmental programs; Experience ensuring that safety and occupational health principles, practices, procedures and standards are followed.
