About the Position: Serves as Army Community Service (ACS) Multi-Functional Specialist at the installation level with professional and technical responsibility for assisting Commanders with assessing, tailoring and prioritizing ACS service delivery in support of local military and Family needs.

Duties

Implements various service delivery models designed to assist service members in fulfilling their responsibility to prepare their Families for their mission-related absences Develops, implements and manages installation Army Community Services, establishing goals, objectives and procedures in accordance with applicable State, Department of Defense, Department of the Army and other federal guidance, regulations and laws. Consults with on- and off-site community leadership officials on Soldier and Family Readiness services and related issues. Designs and establishes marketing and public relations strategies to ensure target populations are informed of services and activities. Serves as unit service coordinator, providing services to a designated military unit.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Sociology, Social Work, Human Services, or Psychology of study. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) interviewing, counseling, and/or advising on career, occupational, volunteer or educational issues; 2) registering and/or referring clients for job vacancies based upon an assessment of their interests, skills, and/or prior experience; and 3) creating training plans/documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Sociology, Social Work, Human Services, or Psychology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
