This position is located in the Interior Region 1, Conservation and Recreation Assistance Division supporting the Partnership Wild and Scenic Rivers and Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Programs. Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-11/23/2023-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. In order to qualify for the Community Planner GS-0020-11 position, you must meet the basic requirement of: An undergraduate or graduate degree in community planning; or related field such as urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration that included at least 12 semester hours in the planning process, socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, urban and regional economic analysis, and development finance. OR An undergraduate or graduate degree in a related field, such as those listed above who do not have the 12 semester hours of specified course work, must have had at least 1 year of work experience in community planning acquired under the supervision and guidance of a community planner. In addition, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service providing technical planning assistance, coordination, and leadership for cooperative conservation and outdoor recreation planning projects which includes: providing technical assistance to federal, state and local agencies and organization to create local and regional network of parks, rivers, trails, greenways and open spaces; developing methods for involving the public in the planning process; organizing and coordinating planning projects; planning workshops and engaging community interests. OR 3 years of higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree in Community Planning; Or a directly related major such as urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration that included at least 12 semester hours in the planning process, socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, urban and regional economic analysis, and development finance. OR Combination of education and experience that together meet the qualification requirements for this position as described above. PLEASE NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts, or a complete list of college courses taken that identifies each course, college or university, semester or quarter hour earned, grade received, and date completed. If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. You will not receive credit for experience that does not indicate the beginning and ending dates of employment and the exact hours worked per week or is listed as "varies". Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

To qualify based on education, you must possess:

3 years of higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree in Community Planning; Or a directly related major such as urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration that included at least 12 semester hours in the planning process, socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, urban and regional economic analysis, and development finance.

Combination of education and experience that together meet the qualification requirements for this position as described above.
