Duties
Control access of vehicles and pedestrians to installation.
Perform security guard access control and patrol duties in accordance with appropriate regulations to detect and prevent theft, damage, accident, trespass, sabotage and espionage and to enforce the security regulations of the installation.
Ensure written orders are available and provides specific interpretations.
Manage the shift supervisor makes day-to-day adjustments as necessary, for example, to cover brief periods of absence among personnel.
Ensure new personnel are instructed on specific security techniques.
Requirements
- Incumbent must be able to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
- IAW AR 190-56, requirements of Individual Reliability Program apply.
- Incumbent must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability.
- Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
- Incumbent will be required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT).
- Incumbent must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
- Employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
- Incumbent must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.
- Incumbent must be able to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes such as work with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
