You will serve as a Public Affairs Specialist in the Department of the Navy (DON) Office of the Chief of Information (CHINFO) on the Media Content Operations team in Southern California.
Duties
You will serve as the Navy's subject matter expert in the area of digital engagement and communication using legacy online web platforms as well as social media.
You will manage the Navy's flagship digital engagement platforms to ensure quality and consistency of all web and social media communication.
You will prepare and conduct briefings to advise CHINFO, Navy and Fleet leaders and communicators on digital engagement platforms, tactics, strategic initiatives, communication goals and objectives.
You will also prepare and conduct briefings to advise CHINFO, Navy and Fleet leaders and communicators on policy and training, metrics development, process management, and key performance indicators.
You will evaluate the effectiveness of short and long range planning and digital engagement programs designed to meet the goals set out in the U.S. Navy Communication Strategy using flagship web and social media properties.
You will develop strategies and tactics to engage potentially hostile or indifferent audiences, correcting misunderstandings of the Navy's programs and policies.
You will disseminate desired information to the general public and special interest groups regarding the activities, achievements and accomplishments of the U.S. Navy.
You will identify possible causes of misunderstanding of the Navy's mission and programs and develop new approaches to build mutual understanding with various special interest groups.
You will maintain contact with representatives of the Defense Media Activity's American Forces Public Information Management System (AFPIMS), other web design, hosting and maintenance organizations.
You will maintain contact with major social media platforms to ensure their support for Navy digital engagement programs.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
GS-13: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector planning and directing all aspects of enterprise social media strategy development and social media content production supporting the service's communication mission, goals, and objectives.
