This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, Industrial Department, Structural Group in Baltimore, MD.
Duties
You will be responsible for operating, understanding and is certified in the typical welding procedures and processes using submerged arc welding (SAW) equipment to perform operations such as clad welding, plug welding and weld build-up.Being a civilian working for the Coast Guard makes you valuable member of the team. Typical duties include:* Welding tasks to include, but not limited to, common welding practices in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), flux core arc welding (FCAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) and gas metal arc welding (GMAW) procedures.* Designing, modifying and assembling shipfitting projects performed at the Yard.* Welding assignments include, but not limited to welding on the various components of a ship including the shell, framing, inner bottoms, tanks, boilers, decks, bulkheads, superstructure, masts, stacks, ventilation, piping and other similar components
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- Applicants must submit a copy of their SF-50 at the time of application.
