You will serve as a LEAD EMERGENCY SERVICES DISPATCHER i in the Provost Marshal Department, Services Division of MCAS BEAUFORT SC.

Duties

You will obtains essential information from computer aided dispatch system/caller and dispatch the correct emergency response units. You will determine the response agency and services to be rendered based on the nature of the emergency in accordance with established guidelines. You will maintain constant liaison with the scene of the emergency to include fire, security and medical supervisors, and other Installation/Emergency Operations Centers as well as the Regional Operations Center. You will operate a variety of communications equipment such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), emergency radios, Enhanced-911 (E-911) Enterprise Land Mobile Radio (ELMR), Telecommunication Devices for the Deaf (TDD). You will utilize computers with general and specialized software common to the dispatching occupation. You will screens incoming communications and prioritizes emergency/non-emergency calls and situations. You will be certified in accordance with national standards and established protocols to perform EMD services to callers with medical emergencies. You will utilize computer database to access and secure security areas, control access gate functions, recall logged events, track and relay information on special operations, and maintain alarm location diagrams. You will authenticate fire and security alarms as well as monitors Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) as both a general surveillance tool and an assessment tool. You will serve as a central point of contact during after-hours, weekends, and holidays to respond to requests for information relative to installation departments, military commands and personnel, tenant commands and/or general inquiries. You will be responsible to supervisors/managers for assuring that the work of your assigned team is carried out by performing a range of coordinating and supportive duties and responsibilities. You will serve as coach, facilitator and/or negotiator in coordinating team initiatives and in consensus building activities among team members. You will inform the supervisor of performance management issues/problems and recommend/request related actions, such as: assignments, reassignments, promotions, tour of duty changes, peer reviews and performance appraisals.

• Must obtain and maintain DoD Telecommunicator I within 30 days and DoD Telecommunicator II certification within 90 days.
• You are required to maintain emergency services dispatcher qualifications and certifications, to include but not limited to FEMA NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800, as well as, Hazardous Materials Awareness Training/Certifications.
• Incumbent must obtain and maintain Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification within six months of employment and the employee must also be CPR/AED-certified through the National Safety Council, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.
• Incumbent must obtain and maintain certification to operate the required state and federal Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS), such as NCIC and NLETS, within six months of hire.
• Incumbent is also required to successfully complete the LDC Training Program to include classroom and On-The-Job Training (OJT) within the first year of appointment.
• Incumbent must be able to type a minimum of 35 words per minute.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Responsible for obtaining the necessary information various monitoring sources or individuals and dispatching police, fire and medical emergency services assets for Department of Defense DoD) installations, other Federal installations, and mutual aid to local, county, and state locations. Must be able to write and speak English clearly and distinctly so they are easily understood over the telephone and radio and written documentation is easily intelligible. An annual health assessment is required. The incumbent will be required to take medical examinations to assess his/her medical qualifications for duty involving work with exposure to high levels of stress present, have color vision adequate to distinguish between green, red, and yellow lights on alarm and equipment control panels and to read information from a multi-colored computer screen, and have adequate hearing for voice and tone.
