This position is part of the Idaho Operations Office, Department of Energy. As a Security Specialist, you will serve as a security specialist in planning and managing multiple projects and safeguards and security (S&S) disciplines and is concerned primarily with the protection of sensitive and classified information, special nuclear materials, personnel, and facilities against criminals, terrorists, and hostile intelligence agencies.

- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- This position is included in the Department of Energy's Technical Qualification Program (TQP).
- The selectee will be required to meet core, position, and site specific technical qualification standards within a reasonable period of time (typically from 12 to 18 months) from the date of placement in the position.
- This position requires a security clearance. Failure to obtain and maintain the required security clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will participate in drug urinalysis testing,
- I understand that this is NOT a remote position and that I will be required to report to the office a certain number of days per pay period.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following :
Providing guidance in strategy, policy, planning and related technologies for security operations AND
Assisting in leading evaluation of security problems and prepares recommended improvement actions AND
Assisting in policy interpretation, advice, and guidance on all aspects of Safeguards and Security policy.
