Qualifications
Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis.- To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume.
In order to qualify, you must first meet IRS Internship Program eligibility:
You must be enrolled on at least a half-time basis, or accepted for enrollment, and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution; have at least a cumulative (overall) 2.0 grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale; remain in good academic standing.
Secondly, you must meet any basic requirements of the position and the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT FOR GS-1: You must be enrolled in a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) program.
BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT FOR GS-2: Basic Qualification Requirement: You must have three (3) months of full-time general experience. This experience should be progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the competencies necessary to perform the duties of this position. OR Successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent High school diploma or equivalent.
BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT FOR GS-3: You must have six (6) months of general clerical related experience. The experience should have been progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire to perform the duties of this position. OR Completion of an intensive, specialized course of study of less than 1 year. Courses may have been obtained through a business or technical school, or military training program, and should include up to 40 hours per week of instruction for at least 3 months duration. The course must have been designed specifically as career preparation for the work of the position being filled. OR One (1) year of education above the high school level in any field of study obtained from an accredited junior college, college, university, business, secretarial or technical school. OR A combination of education and experience equivalent to the experience described above.
BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT FOR GS-4: You must have one (1) year or twelve (12 months) of general experience. The experience should have been progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire to perform the duties of this position. OR Two (2) years of education above the high school level (education may have been obtained in an accredited junior college, college, university, business, secretarial or technical school. OR A combination of education and experience equivalent to the experience described above.
BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT FOR GS-5: You must have One (1) year or twelve (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS -04) in the Federal government. Specialized experience includes: responsible clerical, office, or other work that is related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience for this position includes: analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gathering pertinent data, and recognizing solutions; Planning and organizing work; and Communicating effectively orally and in writing. OR Four (4) years above high school or a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to the position being filled. OR A combination of education and experience equivalent to one (1) year of experience.

This position has an education requirement. You
MUST submit dated documentation showing current enrollment in a qualifying institution (e.g. letter from the registrar, unofficial transcripts from current semester) by the closing date of the announcement. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the
U.S. Department of Education.
