The primary purpose of this position is to install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate a variety of utility systems that require intermediate to journey level skills in various utility related trades such as electrical work, air conditioning equipment repair, heating equipment maintenance, boiler plant maintenance, wastewater treatment operation, water treatment operation, and engineering equipment operation.

Duties

Install, diagnose, and make repairs on a variety of domestic and commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning units and systems Install, repair, and maintain a variety of domestic heating equipment and systems such as oil fueled heaters, hot air furnaces, heating boilers, and other systems and equipment Operate Building Automation Systems (BAS) for HVAC controls Make plumbing repairs that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, replacing, packing, and sealing defective parts of utility, supply, and disposal systems. Knowledge of water treatment equipment operation, installation, and repair in order to complete water treatment processes to water that meets acceptable standards Operate one or more motor vehicles which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of upto 11,700 kilograms (26,000 pounds). Manually dig ditches for repair and installation of utility lines Clean shop areas equipment and tools Participate in the development and execution of utility program budgets. Complete appropriate data entry in automated software systems required for the administration of utility related projects. Purchase equipment, materials, and supplies for utility related work and monitor annual contracts with utility related suppliers.

Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate a variety of utility systems. Repair and operate utility systems such as steam, hot water, chilled water, filtered water, wastewater, air conditioning, heating, electrical, sewer, plumbing, compressed air, vacuum, and gas. Use automated computer software to track data related to utility systems, utility maintenance, maintain records, and perform simple arithmetic calculations. Troubleshoot and take initiative to solve problems and accomplish work assignments in a safe manner. Have knowledge of a variety of technical trade terminology, tools, and equipment in more than one area. I possess a strong work ethic, dexterity and can perform strenuous work as required by the position. Considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.
