This position performs laboring duties that require moderately heavy physical effort requiring the use of common hand tools and power equipment involving any or all of the following duties. The incumbent must on a regular and recurring basis operate light duty motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds to transport personnel, material, or equipment to work sites over Federal, state, and county roads and city streets in all traffic conditions.

Duties

Performs simple and routine maintenance and repair of grounds, fences, exterior structures, buildings, equipment and related utilities. Assist journey-level, or other higher graded maintenance workers in the maintenance, repair, and construction of buildings and facilities and performs carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and other related indoor and outdoor maintenance duties. Works solo or as part of a team to accomplish all park tasks. Operates riding and push mowers, gas-powered weed eater, and pressure wash machine. Occasionally works on ladders/scaffolds to clean and/or replace ceiling fixtures, walls, replace light bulbs and other similar tasks, washing windows, walls, room partitions and lights. Scours lavatories, stools, and urinals, vacuums and shampoos carpets. Cleans offices and buildings; collecting bagged trash and recycled materials from site buildings, historic structures and hauling those materials to designated areas in the site; sweeps, mops, strips, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors using brooms, mops. Dusts, waxes and polishes office furniture, table tops, desks, chairs, lighting, fixtures, windows, window ledges and woodwork. Operates 2 and 4-wheel pickups and tractor.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT)Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (other than blueprints)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentDexterity and SafetyVehicle OperationWork Practices (including keeping things neat, clean, and in order) SCREEN OUT: Perform the most difficult and complex laborer tasks including ability to operate trucks and trailers weighing up to 10,000 pounds; properly loading and unloading various supplies and equipment; to perform work providing laboring assistance to others in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, roads, and trails; operate power equipment such as lawnmowers, snow blowers, and string trimmers; and safely use a variety of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, hammers, saws, pulaskis, rock bars, etc. Able to safely operate these vehicles/equipment in all types of traffic and weather conditions. Utilize most hand and power tools associated with these tasks including light hand and power and cleaning custodial tools, lawn mowers, snow blowers, and leaf blowers . Experience performing operator maintenance on all vehicles/equipment operated (e.g. monitoring fluid levels, checking tire pressure and blade replacement/sharpening). Perform these duties as an expert with a high degree of independence. Supervisor assigned work orally, through work orders, or with written specifications. Work was checked to see that it met compliance with work and safety standards and policies.
