You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT/INFOSEC) in the Information Technology (IT) Service Desk/Accounts Management Office (AMO) Branch (10944), Waterfront and Production IT Support Division (1094), Information Technology and Cybersecurity Office (109) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will diagnose and resolve problems and issues with any system or network at NNSY, including preliminary troubleshooting for issues on the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) network or seat.
You will maintain user and file permission (includes managing and tracking user System Authorization Request (SAAR) forms and setting policies for user and computer related data.
You will provide initial NNSY new user Information Awareness (IA) orientation training to new
network users.
You will identify trends and develop metrics, utilizing customer request/reporting system.
You will support Cyber Security incident response.
You will diagnose, and correct recurring and emergency problems and faults with shipyard operating systems software, hardware, and firmware.
You will develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for cognizant area of responsibility (e.g., installation/maintenance of hardware/software/firmware), including workstations and peripheral devices (printers, scanners, etc.).

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- The position often requires irregular hours.

Qualifications
GS-12
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying information technology concepts, principles, techniques, and practices, including Microsoft Windows operating system, Active Directory (AD), microcomputers (PC), both hardware and software, as well as peripheral devices, such as optical drives (CD/DVD-ROM), scanners, plotters, printers, digital cameras, backup devices, etc.
Experience utilizing various software packages available on the NNSY networks, as well as, various corporate applications such as Advances Industrial Management (AIM), Supervisor's Desk (SUPDESK), Performance Measurement and Control (PMC), Electronic Facility & Equipment Maintenance (eFEM), etc.
Experience diagnosing application software, hardware, and network equipment problems
Experience dealing with all levels of management and shipyard user community.
Experience coordinating the resolution of IT issues as submitted by the NNSY user community, providing advice and guidance on a wide range and variety of complex IT issues.
GS-11
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying Federal, DoD, NNSY, and Department policy, business rules, and regulations regarding IT.
Experience managing network components, i.e., servers (both network and corporate systems), routers and switches, and the network architecture used at NNSY for all networks.
Experience interpreting IT policies, standards and guidelines.
Experience applying IT security principles and methods.
Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
