Qualifications
In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:To qualify for the GS-14 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-13 level defined as experience in performing risk assessment and risk-based decision-making duties which have a direct impact on policy and program activities critical to the mission. Experience in serving as a key resource in the technical, legal, and/or administrative aspects of human and environmental toxicology and risk assessment.Your application package will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of toxicological science and risk assessment sufficient to apply new scientific findings, modify or adapt standard techniques, processes, and procedures, and to assess and apply precedents to devise strategies and plans to overcome significant scientific problems.
Knowledge of acute chronic and irreversible health effects of chemicals on humans.
Skill in written communication.
Knowledge and competence in advanced techniques of a highly complex area oftoxicology.
Ability to take highly technical scientific principles and theories and translate them intoadministratively workable solutions.
Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements as they relate to toxicology and risk assessment issues.
Skill in working with and directing committees and conferences.
Skill in oral communication.

Education
You need a degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position.
A bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in
Toxicologist: You must have a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in toxicology; or an appropriate discipline of the biological, medical, or veterinary sciences that included at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, biochemistry, or physiology, and 12 semester hours in toxicology.
