You will serve as a Natural Resource Specialist in the Conservation Division of the Range Management Department of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION YUMA.

Duties

You will recommend changes in military plans and programs to reduce their impact on the environment. You will monitor the effect of military and civilian operations on range natural resources. You will prepare NEPA documents for proposed activities and construction projects. You will review NEPA documents prepared by others and recommend changes in the assessment. You will interpret environmental laws and ensure the base is in full compliance.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Coordinating the implementation of the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP); 2) Assessing the impacts of land use change, proposed military training and training support projects on the natural environment; Developing and reviewing environmental documentation and planning submittals to ensure organizational compliance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) directives; and 4) Representing the command/agency at meetings concerning resource management. Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess

Applicants must possess-Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a related discipline appropriate to this position

OR

A combination of education and experience in one of the above majors that includes at least 24 semester hours in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a discipline related to this position plus appropriate experience or additional education. The quality of the combination of education and experience demonstrates that I possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the work of the position and is comparable to that normally acquired through the completion of a full four year course of study with a major as described above.

The following can be substituted in order to meet the minimum qualification requirements (listed under Qualifications Section) of this position:GS-11 Level

  • successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a related discipline appropriate to this position; OR
  • successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a related discipline appropriate to this position; OR
  • a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
