The Program Support Assistant serves as the main contact between Engineering Service and their customers seeking repairs/maintenance of facilities/equipment at the Cincinnati VMAC.

Duties

VA Healthcare System Serving Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan (VISN 10) advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. This is an approach to healthcare that empowers and equips people to take charge of their health and well-being and live their lives to the fullest. As an employee operating in a Whole Health System of care, you will operate in a model with three core elements, seeking to create a personalized health plan for each Veteran. This is done in the context of healing relationships and healing environments and a connection back to the Veteran's community. This aligns with the Veterans Health Administration Mission Statement to Honor America's Veterans by providing exceptional health care that improves their health and well-being. The incumbent is technically and administratively responsible for managing all aspects of the: Electronic Work Request System (Maximo) Preventative maintenance computer data base of all equipment for Engineering Service Maintain the data base for Medical Center equipment purchased for Engineering. Responsible for maintaining and updating the Joint Commission utility and equipment computer data base field of records Assist in monitoring the building management systems, and making minor adjustments as needed. (i.e. temperatures) S/he must also independently compile and analyze statistics to evaluate trends and provide solutions. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 08:00 am - 4:30 pm Position Description Title/PD#: Program Support Assistant/PD915020 Physical Requirements: The incumbent will walk, kneel, stoop, crawl and climb ladders and stairs in the performance of the duties of the position.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. GS-05 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: communicate effectively both orally and in writing - and to also establish and maintain effective working relationships - with people from varying backgrounds, economic and educational levels; conduct management studies to analyze maintenance and equipment trends. Must also possess knowledge of spreadsheet and database programs; and computer operations, personal computers, peripheral devices, software and computer program packages. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. If you are qualifying on education, transcripts are required. (Transcript Required). OR, Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-04 level. To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-XX. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e. 50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education. Typing Proficiency: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
