This position is assigned to the Golf Course Division, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, Commander, Navy Region Southeast (CNRSE), Navy Installations Command (CNIC); located at Naval Air Station (NAS) Corpus Christi, Texas. The incumbent of this position is an assistant to the Golf Course manager and responsible for efficient golf operation inside and outside to include but not limited to; Cart Barn, Driving Range, Starting and Ranging, Pro Shop and Snack Bar.

Duties

Leads and assists in the supervision of all employees assigned to the Cart Barn, (Recreation Aides Starters), Golf Pro Shop (Recreation Aide Sales) and Snack Bar during his/her respective tour of duty. This includes non-appropriated fund full-time, part-time and flexible employees. Incumbent may participate in the interviewing and selection of new employees and evaluation of job performance. Prepare proper documentation for disciplinary actions, promotions, reassignments, status changes, and awards. In initial stages, deals with workers to resolve complaints and grievances. Explains work procedures and work schedules, assists and trains personnel in the proper performance of their duties, use of efficient work methods, and safe practices. Contributes to the planning and scheduling of work assignments to accommodate weekends, holidays by recommending number and placement of employees. Directs daily work schedule of the personnel assigned and coordinates the upkeep of facilities and equipment. Acts as Manager on Duty in the absence of the Golf Manager Merchandizes Pro Shop in an effort to be inviting with an appropriate mix of product for sale. Maintains carts in a clean and working order per manufacturer's requirements, stages cart for the purpose of patron usage. Keeps Driving Range up and running by picking up range balls and baskets, cleaning and putting them in a dispenser. Stages play on the first tee and along with the Rec Aide Starters, pairs groups up for the purposes of maximizing tee time usage. Monitors pace of play to insure timeliness. General maintenance of buildings, which may include cleaning of rest rooms and locker rooms. If grounds maintenance is necessary, coordinates general maintenance with the Golf Course Superintendent and may do some mowing, weed eating, and painting. Responsible for assisting in course preparation (course markings), i.e., hazards, ground under repair, out of bounds areas, and yardages on sprinkler heads. Assists in Pro Shop or Snack Bar as needed, Operating Point of sale system Assists the Golf Course Manager in organizing, publicizing and running golf leagues and tournaments held at the course. The incumbent may give Golf Clinics under the supervision of the Golf Course Manager. To give individual Golf Instruction, the incumbent must pass the PGA's Playing Ability Test (PAT), complete the Professional Readiness Orientation (PRO), and satisfactorily demonstrate the ability to instruct and convey the message of the golf swing to the golf course manager. When these conditions are met the incumbent may conduct Golf Instruction on his/her own time. The incumbent will receive 90% of lesson income, once a month, and the NAFI will receive the remaining 10% of income. Incumbent may order supplies for the Pro Shop and Snack Bar, process and submit invoices and assist with monthly resale inventory. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
  • Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.

  • May be required to pass pre-employment examinations.
  • Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
  • A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.

Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Must be thoroughly familiar with the game of golf in order to instruct the game and provide rulings. Experience working with an organized golf program and golf operations. Ability to communicate and relate to patrons of all ages and ranks. Ability to provide leadership, supervision and gain respect from all participants. Skill to tactfully deal with patrons under various situations, such as enforcing rules, policies or providing instruction. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
