You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the Navy Drug Screening Laboratory of NAVDRUGLAB GREAT LAKES IL.

Duties

You will be responsible for the supervision of multiple GS-05 Physical Science Technicians and four (4) GS-7 Lead Physical Science Technicians and will be required to perform any and all duties of subordinates when necessary. You will be responsible for work schedules are planned on daily, weekly, or monthly basis. You will be responsible for work assignments are revised when manpower is unavailable to complete shift workloads and tum-around time requirements. You will be responsible for ensuring that workflow between the Accessioning Section and the Screening Section is accomplished. You will interface with individuals in other departments concerning test results, sample requests and procedural changes. You will order supplies and maintain adequate inventories of consumables in order to ensure uninterrupted work flow. You will identifiy and/or analyze problems that occur in the laboratory related to sample testing to determine causative factors. You will submit reports of findings to the Supervisory Chemist (Initial Testing Department Head) and Quality Assurance Officer.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Specialized. Examples of Qualifying Experience: 1) Knowledge in Identifying and analyzing problems that occur in a laboratory setting related to sample or specimen intake testing to determine causative factors. 2) Experience in utilizing an automated system for collecting, maintaining, and monitoring data. 3) Experience with laboratory safety protocols and Federal regulations ensuring that adequate safeguards are taken to protect employees. 4) Experience with exercising full supervisory responsibilities over multiple employees to include assigning work and training new employees. 5) Experience monitoring workflow and turnaround times between multiple sections of a laboratory.
