About the Position: Located at Fort Moore, GA. Within the Dental Health Activity. As a Dental Laboratory Technician work is performed in a clinical lab. Work requires long periods of standing, reaching, and recurring bending. Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment and follow appropriate protective measures. This position is full time, 40 hours, Mon-Fri. No weekends.

Duties
Fabricate porcelain veneers for crowns, fixed dental prostheses, implant restorations, and all-ceramic crowns using ceramo-metal techniques.
Pour dental casts such as preliminary casts, final casts, and fixed casts with die pins from all types of impression materials.
Fabricate acrylic or cast metal splints for the reduction or fixation of maxillary and mandibular fractures, vertical dimension increasing prosthesis, and obturators.
Advanced techniques must be used, where difficult firing and shading techniques are employed.
Fabricate appliances such as night guards, splints, stents, sleep apnea devices, and tooth position devices for orthodontic patients.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A favorable National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) is required for this position.
- Incumbent will be required to wear a uniform.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: designing or fabricating semi fixed or removable partial dentures, pouring casts from impression materials, and preparing orthodontic set ups such as night guards, splints and stents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-07.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Licensed Dentist: Licensed professional dentists will be considered qualified for any grade level if they have, in the aggregate, the required experience in dental laboratory procedures.
