The employee serves as a Management and Program Assistant under the Chief of Environmental Management Service, who is a direct report to the Assistant Director. As such, the employee assists with a variety of functions to provide effective support for Environmental Sanitation Program, Waste Management Program, Pest Control Program, Textile Care Program, and Employee Uniform Program within Richard Roudebush VA Medical Center.
Duties

The employee will produce monthly compliance reporting by identifying productivity and discrepancies for the following committees: Safety & Healthcare Leadership Committee, Healthcare Services Operations Committee, Water Safety Committee, Accident Review Board Committee, Textile Care Committee, and Infection Prevention Committee.
The employee serves as the Quality Assurance Controller for Environmental Management Service. Responsible for independently planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the quality assurance program requirements for the service, including the development of effective mechanisms for review and evaluation of key service functions.
Routinely collects data in the form of continuous performance monitors, such as ATP, Surfacide UV disinfection, Exam 4 Inspections, water safety logs, and Performance Logic software. Assesses the collected data, evaluate data and initiates problem-focused review as indicated through the monitoring process, after approval by the Chief, Environmental Management Service.
Follow-up documentation is provided as required.
Gathers data and information, as appropriate, for the Annual Management Briefing and prepares quarterly quality reviews addressing goals of the service, progress reports on QA Monitors and Risk assessments.
Prepares responses for Chief's signature/approval, to committees throughout the medical center on the status of Environmental Management's QA program as required.
The employee ensures validity of all data collection mechanisms, alerting to problem areas and initiating solutions in providing information of the highest quality.
The employee works closely with the Quality Assurance Manager for the Medical Center for compliance with Medical Center and JCAHO directives.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (7:30am - 4:00pm)

Qualifications
One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-6) in the Federal service that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the Management and Program Assistant position to be filled. Specialized experience includes performing a wide variety of clerical and administrative support duties; maintaining records and databases, perform such tasks as assembling information to be used in reports or response to inquiries, to compose correspondence not requiring a technical knowledge drafting policies and memorandums; utilizing various Microsoft Office applications; communicating and working effectively with management team and a wide variety of individuals; and having the ability to gather, analyze and evaluate information. These assignments are performed at the full performance level. Physical Requirements: The work is generally sedentary. Typically, when performing administrative tasks, the employee
sits comfortably to do the work. However, aspects of the work involve walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items (up to 25lbs), or driving an automobile, etc. no special physical demands are required to perform the work. Regularly conducts onsite QA inspections of wards, clinics, laboratories, and administrative areas. Much of this time is spent walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and reaching. Prolonged standing my occur while conducting training classes.
