This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Operational Support Division, Office of Forensic Science Field Laboratories.
This position's primary purpose is to provide operational assistance and support to the field laboratories in the following locations:
Largo, MD
Miami, FL
Dallas, TX
Pleasanton, CA
Vista, CA

As a Laboratory Evidence Control Specialist your typical work assignments may include:
Receiving evidence and legal documents from federal agencies and other state and local law enforcement agencies within the laboratory's jurisdiction.
Creating evidence inventory records and maintaining chain-of-custody records for all evidence in accordance with DEA policy.
Maintaining vault storage area, ensuring that all evidence is in the manner that promotes its expeditious and efficient retrieval.
Providing courtroom testimony in both Federal and State proceedings.
Providing expert advice, guidance, and training for staff on all aspects of evidence processing and procedures.
Requirements
- U. S. Citizenship Required.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification.
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
GS-7 One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 Federal grade level performing the following duties: receiving and maintaining property or some type of inventory; maintaining and protecting chain of custody of inventory; participating in the destruction or inventory of property; maintaining various computer systems. OR 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement OR a combination of both, experience and education.
GS-9 One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 Federal grade level performing the following duties: receiving, documenting and storage of property; advising and guidance of inventory processing and procedures; organizing and participating in the destruction of property; maintains vault storage area. OR have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related OR a combination of both, experience and education.
