About the Position: This position is located at with the Defense Health Agency DHA Low Country Market Army Command Hospital Winn Ft Stewart GA. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Transports patients from hospital units to the Operating Room assuring safe transportation of the patient. Positions or assist positioning patient and draping the patient for the specific procedure. Selects, assembles, and organizes required supplies, equipment, and instruments for specific surgical procedure. Maintains accountability of sharps, sponges, surgical instruments and other items and perform surgical counts. Performs universal protocol procedures. Maintains surgical instruments during surgical procedures, perform point of use cleaning and prepare contaminated instrument for transport. Performs daily diagnostics and inspect sterilizer and other OR equipment to very proper function. Performs and documents immediate use steam sterilization. Assembles operating room carts according to the schedule. Performs user level maintenance on OR equipment (e.g., sterilizers, surgical beds). Orients and trains newly assigned personnel and students.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
• This position may designate as Inclement Weather Essential. You must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

Basic Requirements for Operating Room Nursing Assistant GS-06: Experience required for GS-06: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: providing assistance inside the operating room to members of the surgical team (e.g. surgeon, anesthetist, or registered nurse), preparing an operating room for surgical procedures, such as setting up surgical equipment, supplies, or solutions and maintaining aseptic technique. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-06: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Nursing or a related field of study. OR Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-06: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
