The position is located in the Audiology and Speech Pathology Unit at the Lt. Col. Luke Weathers VA Medical Center located in Memphis, TN. The position reports to the Supervisor of Audiology and Speech Pathology and is responsible for accomplishing a broad range of administrative and clerical duties
associated with and in support of the program.
Duties
Program Support Assistant serves as an extension of the Supervisor of the Audiology and Speech Pathology unit and is the point of contact to resolve administrative issues. Responsible for coordinating administrative duties for the Audiology and Speech Pathology units (including all sites and tele- audiology modality) in order to ensure goal of delivering high quality and timely care. Other duties Other duties include, but are not limited to:
Uses working knowledge of audiological and speech pathology programs (populations, diagnoses, device labeling and uses, locations/modes of service) for clinic planning, patient distribution, process improvement and clinic access improvement.
Serves as main point of contact between all CBOC audiologists, MSAs, and telehealth technicians for planning and problem solving in scheduling, complaint resolution, appointment prerequisites, and telehealth or onsite clinic supply and equipment inventories.
Organizes, prioritizes, and responds to communications from MSAs and staff at seven locations. Serves as point of contact between Audiology and Home Based Primary Care (HBPC), fielding communications from HBPC coordinator, nurse practitioners, and other
clinical HBPC staff regarding in-home patient needs including medical device supplies.
Assists with new and established home-based patient distribution.
Collects and reports data for national pilot study in HBPC.
Strategizes to improve program efficiency by geographical grouping of patients, grouping visit types, and supply distribution.
For the Telehealth (Teleaudiology) Program and on-site CBOC Audiology Programs, streamlines processes to improve access to care and success of Clinical Video Telehealth (CVT) to CBOC programs in Tupelo, Jackson, Holly Springs, Jonesboro, Savannah, Dyersburg, as well as on-site clinics in Tupelo, Jonesboro, and Jackson. Assists in patient routing for synchronous and store and forward teleaudiology modalities.
Ensures appropriate supply levels at six CBOCs. Collects and reports data for national teleaudiology pilot studies. Organizes and tracks Office of Connected Care telehealth help desk entries and tracks repair updates for telehealth equipment.
Completes Audiology government car record keeping and receipt submission to fleet manager. Tracks interfacility consults for the Implantable Hearing Device Program including cochlear implants.
Tracks patient distribution and solicits/compiles outcome measure data for the implantable hearing device program, Progressive
Tinnitus Management group program, Vestibular Rehab Program, and Interdisciplinary Geri-PACT Program.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/27/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, requiring sitting, standing, walking, bending, and carrying light objects. The position demands period of intense concentration and the ability to maintain control in difficult situations.
